VISIONS OF THE FUTURE IN BLADE RUNNER
Third Year Dissertation [Tutor: Tom Dyckhoff]
Investigating the Sets and Theories Constructing a City on the Edge of the Future. My Dissertation Topic centres around set design and the application of Architectural Theory in Film. In particular, I am studying Ridley Scott’s 1982 production of, Blade Runner. Its synonymity with architecture provides an critical framework that I’ve always been interested in understanding and exploring further. In this particular piece of writing, I discuss the conception, production and execution of the project in relation to
it’s influences and sources, amongst real architectural; sets used in the film. From Corbusier to Archigram, the essay demonstrates an extremely important link between two fields of study that I deeply connect with.
